We have been very busy the last couple of months knitting new items for the store, with some of the new yarns that have come in this past season.
This is a baby vest made from the new and improved Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake chunky.
This yarn was very popular a few years ago, though quite a few people hated working with it, since it was a bit sticky and tended to sort of cling to your fingers. They have greatly improved it, and it is much more pleasant to work with. There are several cute baby patterns available. I don’t have them on the website, but if you are interested, you can see tall of the Sirdar leaflet patterns here. I can order any patterns that I don’t have in stock. Please email me for more info.
The one on the right is a baby vest made from a new Snuggly yarn which as you can see is self patterning. It is Snuggly Baby Crofter, one of the latest yarns in the Snuggly line, it is 55% nylon and 45% acrylic, which makes it machine wash and dry. It knits up to a DK tension on 4 mm needles. It was a pleasure to knit with.
I’ve also done some adult summer tops. The one on the left is an adaptation of a free Ravelry pattern called Buttercup. If you are not a member of Ravelry, you will have to sign up to get the pattern, but membership is free, and there is a lot of information available there. I think all knitters should at least be a member of Ravelry, if only to get inspired by what other people are knitting
The yarn I’ve used for this is Berroco’s Origami, which is a blend of acrylic, linen, nylon and cotton. It is an interesting yarn to knit with, since it feels a bit stiff and uncomfortable in the skein, but once you start knitting with it, it actually feels quite nice, and probably will feel even nicer after a few washes. The top is made from the top down, so it was easy to adapt to the difference in gauge from the pattern, and I also added some bust darts. I found a great site here where you can calculate how to knit the darts. Was very helpful and the darts turned out well fitting.
Will update some more in the next couple of days. In the meantime we are re-arranging the store so that we can have a ‘discount’ room instead of just a wall. Lots of new stuff coming in the next while, so come in and see what is being added
